Development Vision
Our development objectives build from a vision that correlates the 3 main factors of affordability, strategic location and creative people. Our vision recognises that our global economy is in transition. We understand that volatility in the markets for Canadian commodities is causing shifts in traditional purchasing and investment patterns. We can demonstrate that the North Shore of Kamloops is well positioned to offer exceptional opportunity to those business people who are creatively nimble enough to manage corporate growth in the new age. Our vision recognises that wealth in the "new" economy is created by creative people; people who add value to the traditional products, processes and services. We recognise that Kamloops is Number One out of 300 North American cities on an affordability scale for both commercial and residential value. And we know that decisions for corporate locations are increasingly flexible given the globalisation of the new economy. We understand that affordable housing, attractive lifestyles and creative environments help Human Resource managers with their recruitment drives. Kamloops has always had a strategic location.
First, on the water borne fur trade routes and then on the overland
trading trails where ranchers and railroaders and highway engineers
had to be. We are still strategically located and especially for the
new world. We are a hub for the transcontinental fibre optic networks,
we are an earthquake free zone in a geologically stable land form and
we have an international airport that links with the Alaska Airlines
air-routes giving us our very own portal to the planet. Our Development Vision is based on the premise that wealth in the new global economy results from the efforts of creative people. The NSBIA’s strategic objectives will be met by people who can appreciate creative opportunity in both business and life. Strategic Objectives:
Manufacturing: We recognise the North Shore has 30% of the city’s available industrial land at or near the airport. This is flat land with access to both highway and railroad transportation corridors as well as air access to neighbouring cities. Please follow the link to the "Airport Land Use Plan" for details on zoning and leasing contacts. Our Objective is to recruit more wealth creating businesses onto the North Shore by attracting more creative people into our area. McArthur Island: We are actively involved in the design and marketing of a $13 million dollar sports and display facility with an international draw. These facilities will service both sport and non-sport functions and will attract people who need to be fed, housed and entertained. Our Objective is to develop enough visible business case for a hotel on the North Shore Arts Precinct: Our arts precinct is already started with our Festival of Banners where original art from local artists creates an art walk along the main portion of our Tranquille Market. We have our Festival of Flavours managed as a culinary arts celebration of the quality and diversity of our North Shore restaurants plus, we have a mural program and a sidewalk art walk in the planning stages. Our Objective is to create an artistically attractive area; an area where people want to be. Tranquille Market: The Tranquille Market is evolving into a Boutique Row of speciality shoppes and studios where artists, patrons and consumers are creating an investment climate where additional gallery managers and bistro operators can offer unique products and services. Our Objective is to facilitate the creation of a profitable and enjoyable shopping area. In the macro sense, we are in the early days of transforming our economy from one based on natural resources over to one driven by creative human resources. In the micro view, this means that demand for our business opportunities is not yet so great as to be too costly in the continental marketplace. The real estate dictum of Location, Location, Location applies directly to the North Shore of Kamloops at this time. Click here for a map. We are located in Canada with an educated workforce and with sophisticated infrastructures such as universal health care and a well-valued currency. We are located in British Columbia with wide resources, big lifestyle and access to the Pacific Rim and beyond. We are located in North Kamloops with affordable housing and land, no traffic jams and access to a University. The next decade belongs to the North Shore.
Our portal to the planet is in the design and marketing stage and the
opportunities for locating early makes business sense.
